Porte Notre-Dame a Sens. The Notre-Dame gate in 1828; Yonne, France. Gates that let the traveller into the city until the beginning of the 19th century. There is nothing left of it. Only four towers remain and many sections of walls still visible along the outer boulevards. It was preceded by two drawbridges which enclosed a guardhouse. was condemned to destruction during the winter of 1831-1832 following deliberations by the City Council December 7, 1831. It is through this door that the archbishops were entering their archiepiscopal city.
